1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Journal of Truth ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Journal of Truth is a trading journal application designed to help traders log and analyze their trades. The Service is provided as a Progressive Web App (PWA) that stores all data locally on your device using browser localStorage.

3. Subscription and Payment

Free Trial: New users receive 10 free trades to evaluate the Service.
Premium Subscription: After the trial, continued use requires a subscription of $10/month, charged automatically via Stripe.
Billing: Subscriptions renew automatically on a monthly basis until canceled.
No Refunds: All subscription fees are non-refundable. You may cancel at any time to prevent future charges, but no refunds will be issued for the current billing period.

4. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

Maintaining the confidentiality of your data and device access
All activity that occurs using your subscription
Ensuring you are at least 18 years of age
Complying with all applicable laws and regulations

5. Data Storage and Privacy

Local Storage Only: All trade data is stored locally on your device using browser localStorage. We do not store your trading data on any server.
No Cloud Backup: We do not provide cloud backup. You are responsible for backing up your data.
Device Dependency: If you clear your browser data or uninstall the app, your trade data will be permanently lost.
OpenAI API: If you use the AI Mentor feature and provide your own OpenAI API key, your trade data will be sent to OpenAI's servers for analysis. This is your choice and responsibility.

6. Disclaimer of Trading Results

IMPORTANT: Journal of Truth is a tool for logging and analyzing trades. It does NOT:

Provide trading advice, recommendations, or signals
Guarantee any trading results or profitability
Make any claims about future trading performance

Trading involves substantial risk of loss. Past performance does not guarantee future results. You are solely responsible for your trading decisions.

7. AI Mentor Feature

The AI Mentor feature is powered by OpenAI's GPT models using your own API key.
AI-generated feedback is for educational purposes only and should not be considered professional trading advice.
We are not responsible for the accuracy, quality, or consequences of AI-generated content.
You are responsible for all costs associated with your OpenAI API usage.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its code, design, and content, is owned by Journal of Truth and protected by copyright laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service.

9. Service Availability

We strive to keep the Service available 24/7, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
We may perform maintenance, updates, or modifications at any time without notice.
We reserve the right to discontinue the Service at any time with reasonable notice.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

The Service is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind.
We are not liable for any trading losses, data loss, or other damages resulting from your use of the Service.
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the past 12 months.

11. Cancellation and Termination

You may cancel: Cancel your subscription anytime through your Stripe customer portal. Access continues until the end of your billing period.
We may terminate: We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in fraudulent activity.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the appropriate courts.
